Pilgrimage
Nepal is rich in culture, history, and religion. It is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus as well as Buddhists. Places like Kailash Mansarovar and Pashupatinath connect to the Hindu religion because they were built to worship Lord Shiva. Lumbini is famous as it is considered to be the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. It is the chief holy shrine of the Buddhists. Swayambhunath, also known as the “Monkey Temple” is another significant pilgrimage site for both Newar and Tibetan Buddhists. The Janakpur Temple is said to be the birthplace of the Hindu goddess Sita. Other pilgrimage sites in Nepal include the Boudhanath Stupa, Dakshinkali Temple, and Muktinath Temple.
