Lumbini- (The History)
Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha is a Buddhist pilgrimage located in the south-west region of Nepal. The place is said to be the exact location where Maya Devi gave birth to a boy named Siddhartha Gautam that later on turned out to be Lord Gautam Buddha. It was Lumbini where Lord Buddha attained the path of enlightenment by meditating under a tree which is still present in Lumbini. Nepal Lumbini tour is more of a religious expedition instead of adventurous. Gautam Buddha preached the message of peace and brotherhood. And after more than 2000 years after his demise, people come here to find peace and some enlightenment that once the great soul of Mahatma Buddha achieved. There are a number of temples present in Lumbini and that were built by different countries and are still under construction. The Bodhi tree, under which Lord Buddha performed meditations is still worshipped by the visitors. The passers-by also worship Pusakarini or Holy Pond where Lord Buddha had his first bath. The pilgrimage stays busy all day long, especially in the month of April and May when people gather from around the corner to celebrate Lord Buddha’s birthdate in a grand manner. Festivities are at the great heights during this period making it a perfect time for a day trip to Lumbini.
